In this article I‘ll give recommendations for implementation of various functions in more common feature. More detail how to insert function blocks, variables, how to set types of variables, how to use various tools of configuration and setting read in previous articles no. 7÷18.

 

I. Close and trip circuits supervision

It is very important to control trip circuit. In this part of article I‘ll describe how to configure trip circuit supervision. I show also the configuration of closing circuit supervision. First I draw electrical principle scheme of close and trip circuits supervision. Then I‘ll configure PLC to implement supervision. Function blocks CMTCS1,2 are used to implement control of close/trip supervision.

 1. Principle scheme of control of close/trip circuits:

The control of trip circuit is implemented through binary output PS2_4HSPO1, the control of close circuit – through binary output PS2_4HSPO2. In this scheme I‘m using voltage of 220 V DC, therefore the nominals of resistors are 33 kΩ (see manual Feeder Terminal REF54_ Technical Reference Manual General 1MRS750527-MUM).

2. The configuration of control of trip/close circuits is creating by using „Relay Configuration tool“ application.

Function blocks CMTCS1,2 are used to implement control of close/trip supervision.

3. Example of configuration.

Here binary input BIO 1-5_BI9 is blocking signal. It blocks function of control when voltage of control circuits is lost.

In this configuration first function block CMTCS1 controls trip circuit while the second function block CMTCS2 controls close circuit.

When in principle scheme are two trip circuits, then both function blocks CMTCS1,2 can be used to control these circuits.

4. Signalization.

The faults in close/trip circuits will be indicating by seventh LED.

These variables are connected to function block MMIALAR_7:

The configuration is completed. Compile configuration by using command „MAKE-MAKE“.

II. Changing setting groups

The electrical network can work in several modes (configurations).
When mode (configuration) of electrical network is changed, the settings of protections should also be changed.
1. The configuration is creating by using „Relay Configuration tool“ application.

Function block COSW_x will be used to change setting group.

More about this function block you can read in manufacturer‘s ABB manual COSW_OnOff Switch (1 output) 1MRS752354-MUM.

This function block is simple virtual plug-switch. It turns on or turn off (logical „1“ or logical „0“) circuit.

In picture the configuration of change of settings is redlined.
The configuration is completed. Compile configuration by using command „MAKE-MAKE“.

 

2. Parameters of function block COSW1 are selected by using „Relay setting tool“ application:

3. By using „Relay Mimic Editor“ tool you can indicate on HMI of PLC REF543 which setting group is activated.

6. How to change setting group?

III. Mode of local control

1. Function block COLOCAT can be used to configure mode of local control.

2. Principle scheme of PLC REF543 is shown in picture:

When switch S1 is closed (binary input BIO 1_5_BI10 is active), then mode of local control is turned off.

 

3. The configuration is creating by using „Relay Configuration tool“ application.

When switch S1 is turned on (button „R/L“of PLC REF543 is in position „L“), the binary input BIO 1_5_BI10 isn‘t active and PLC is in mode of local control. Now we can to close circuit breaker by using control switch SA.

When switch S1 is turned off (button „R/L“of PLC REF543 is in position „R“), the binary input BIO 1_5_BI10 is active and PLC is in mode of remote control. Now we can‘t to close circuit breaker by using control switch SA.

4. The configuration of function blocks is completed.

Compile configuration by using command „MAKE-MAKE“.

 

 

5. Parameters of function block COLOCAT is selected by using „Relay setting tool“ application.
