The configuration of incoming cubicle IC-1 and testing procedure are described in articles no.1÷22. In this article we are going to configure ATS scheme of IC-1. Basic principles of ATS you can explore in chapter no. 23 „CAP505: Substation automation – basic principles“.

Signal „ATSblocking“ will be not active until any protections of IC-1 have not been started or tripped.

This configuration already created in previous article no. 22 „CAP505 – various functions 2 of PLC REF543: various blockings; CBFP function with control of current; clocking of control signal; configuration of spare binary outputs for time testing of tripping protections“.

4. The configuration of control of ATS in program „Control“:

Conditions of ATS:
1) Signal „ATSblocking“ is not active (see particle no.14 of this article),
2) „ATS start“ signal is received from voltage transformer no.1 (read particle no. 12 of article no. 24),
3) Circuit breaker of IC-1 should be closed,
4) Signal „ATS ready“ is received from sectional cubicle (read particle no. 13 of article no. 25).

Configure eighth LED as „OpenCBfromATS“ by using „Relay mimic editor“:

7. The configuration of ATS is completed. Compile created configuration by using command „MAKE-MAKE“.

Testing of ATS scheme.

Testing of ATS will be in this sequence: 1. Voltage transformer no. 1. 2. Incoming cubicle IC-1. 3. Sectional cubicle.

9. Testing of ATS of voltage transformer no.1 (read 24-th article):

Testing scheme:

Conditions of ATS:
1) Dropping of voltage or frequency in busbar no.1 (read particle no. 12 of article no. 24),
2) MCB of voltage circuits is closed (read particle no. 12 of article no. 24),
3) Synchronous-motor is not working in busbar no.1(read particle no. 12 of article no. 24),
4) Voltage and frequency measured in busbar no.2 are in normal conditions (read particle no. 13 of article no. 24).

If any of this conditions isn‘t fulfilled, ATS is blocking.
We configured two types of ATS: ATS of undervoltage and ATS of underfrequency.

Settings of ATS of undervoltage: U<50 %xUn, t=1s
Settings of ATS of underfrequency: f=48,9 Hz, t=0,2s

 

Testing of ATS of undervoltage:

Injecting voltages from testing equipment:
Ua=28 V, φ=0˚
Ub=28V, φ=240˚
Uc=28V, φ=120˚

Tripping times of ATS:
t1=1,012s
t2=1,01s
t3=1,013s

 

Testing of ATS of underfrequency:

Injecting voltages and frequency from testing equipment:
f=48,9 Hz
Ua=57,74 V, φ=0˚
Ub=57,74 V, φ=240˚
Uc=57,74 V, φ=120˚

Tripping times of ATS:
t1=0,22s
t2=0,21s
t3=0,22s

 

The first LED of PLC REF543 indicates tripping of ATS (both, ATS of undervoltage and ATS of underfrequency):

10. Testing of ATS of IC-1.

Conditions of ATS:
1) Signal „ATS blocking“ is not active (see particle no.3 of this article),
2) „ATS start“ signal is received from voltage transformer no.1 (read particle no. 12 of article no. 24),
3) Circuit breaker of IC-1 should be closed,
4) Signal „ATS ready“ is received from sectional cubicle (read particle no. 13 of article no. 25).

11. Testing ATS of sectional cubicle (read article no. 25):

Conditions of ATS:
1) Signal „ATS ready“(read particle no. 13 of article no. 25),
2) Any protections of sectional cubicle have not been started or tripped,
3) Signal „ATS ready“ is received from sectional cubicle (read particle no. 13 of article no. 25),
4) Closing signal of circuit breaker of sectional cubicle is received from incoming cubile IC-1 (read particle no. 13 of article no. 25).

 

 

When all these conditions will be fulfilled, the fourth LED of PLC of REF543 of sectional cubicle indicates tripping of ATS:
