At some cases you need to edit the existing configuration. But what if you don‘t have the required configuration file. In this article I‘m going to describe how to read the existing configuration from PLC REF543. Here I‘ll describe how to read existing configuration of incoming cubicle (IC-1).

Reading basic principles of existing configuration:

1. Creating new project (1÷4 particles).
2. Selecting of PLC type (5÷6 particles).
3. Selecting of configuration type (7÷10 particles).
4. Setting of communication parameters (11÷17 particles).
5. Reading the configuration from PLC by using „Relay Download Tool“ application (by using „Receive“ command) and saving downloaded the configuration on PC (20÷27 particles).
6. Compilling downloaded configuration by using „MAKE-BUILD PROJECT“ command (28 particle).
7. Reading parameters of function blocks from PLC by using „Relay Setting Tool“ application (30÷37 particles).

 

After downloading existing configuration from PLC, you always need first to compile this configuration (see particle no.28). After compilling there will be generated default factory’s settings of function blocks. Only after these two steps you‘ll be enabled to download existing settings of function blocks from PLC (by using „Relay Setting Tool“ application).

So we need to create new project at first.

 

1. Select “File-Organize Projects”:

After downloading configuration we need to compile it. After compiling we‘ll be anabled to download parameters of function blocks by using “Relay Setting Tool” application.

 

28. To compile the configuration file, select „MAKE-Build Project“:

Always when you’re compiling the configuration file for the first time, you must select „MAKE-Build Project“. When you’re compiling the configuration file for the second time (after editing the configuration), you need to select „MAKE-MAKE“ command. If you select „MAKE-Build Project“ command for the second compiling, the compiler alarms the error.

 

29. After compiling is complete, close „Relay Configuration Tool“ by selecting „File-Exit“:

Now we need to download (receive) settings of function blocks parameters by using „Relay Setting Tool“ application.

In that case you can‘t to receive configuration and settings of function blocks parameters from PLC REF543 to PC. In that case you need to get the configuration file from engineer who has created this configuration file.
