In this article I describe the configuration of communication settings for CAP505. After setting CAP505 and PC communication settings we can connect them with PLC REF543. Also I show how to connect PC with PLC, how to supply PLC REF543. This concept is also described in manufacturer ABB manual CAP 505 Installation and Commissioning Manual 1MRS751901-MEN. How to navigate on HMI of PLC REF543 see manufacturer’s manual “Protection & Control Terminals RE_54_ Operator Manual 1MRS750500-MUM“.

1. First check PC COM port number. Choose „My Computer>Properties“:

You can supply PLC also with 110 V DC or 230 V AC voltage (see manufacturer‘s ABB manual Feeder Terminal REF 54_ Technical Reference Manual, General 1MRS750527-MUM“). How to navigate on HMI of PLC REF543 see manufacturer’s manual “Protection & Control Terminals RE_54_ Operator Manual 1MRS750500-MUM“.

In next article I describe how to import to CAP505 and export from CAP505 existing file.
