Siemens 7SJ63 PLC is SIPROTEC 4 family PLC (programmable logic controller). It is used for protection of incoming cubicles, voltage transformers, sectional cubicles, asynchronous motors, power transformers, feeders. By using FBD programming language you can create various automatic schemes, interlocking schemes and so on.
By using Digsi software you can easy program and configure Siprotec 2, 3, 4 family PLCs and relays. How to install Digsi 4.83 software read article „Siemens Digsi 4.83 software installation“.

On rear panel are mounted terminals R, K, F, J, Q. Here you can connect analogues currents or voltage inputs, binary inputs, binary outputs. More about these circuits you can explore in manual “Multi-Functional Protective Relay with Local Control 7SJ62_63_64″. Also on rear panel of 7SJ63 are mounted connection ports A and B.
There are various types of ordering of 7SJ63 PLC. This PLC can have various protection, control, measuring, indication, comunnication functions. On side panel of PLC, you can read ordering number:
Fig. 3
Ordering number of Siemens 7SJ63 PLC: 7SJ6321-5EB90-3FE0/EE LOR is shown in figure 3. You can determine which protection, control, measuring, indication and communication functions are included in this PLC by exploring every letter and number in ordering number. Detail explanation of ordering number you can find in manual “Siprotec4 7SJ63 multifunction protection relay” (page 5/145).
To supply Siemens 7SJ63 PLC use terminals F1(UH+), F2(UH-). You can use 110..250 V DC or 115..230 V AC voltage supply. When your supply voltage is 110..250 V DC, positive lead connect to terminal F1(UH+) and negative lead connect to terminal F2(UH-).
More about hardware of Siemens 7SJ63 PLC read manual “Multi-Functional Protective Relay with Local Control 7SJ62_63_64“.
