This is article no. 8 of CAP505 course of PLC REF543.

In this article I’ll describe how to configure currents and voltage measurements in HMI of PLC’s REF543. For this purpose I’ll use “Relay Mimic Editor” tool. How to configure measurements using “Relay Configuration Tool” read article no.7 “CAP505-measurements configuration with CAP505”. More detail description of “Relay Mimic Editor” is in manufacturer’s ABB manual “Relay Mimic Editor Configuration- Configuration Guide 1MRS751904-MEN”.

1. Select your project’s object (in my case object is “IC-1”) and by selecting “Relay Configuration Tool” open it:

8-1

8-2

2. Press button “Background image”:

8-3

3. In “Background image” window press button “A”:

8-4

8-5

4. By selecting button “A”, click with left mouse button anywhere in white redactor window. In “Text” window type upper-case letter “A”:

8-6

We’ve inserted letter “A”:

8-7

5. By selecting button “A”, click with left mouse button anywhere in white redactor window. In “Text” window type letters “kV”:

8-8

6. Save and close “Background image” window by selecting “Image>Save and Close”:

8-9

7. In “Relay Mimic Editor” window press button ”0.0” (“Insert Dynamic Number” button):

8-10

8-11

The purpose of “Insert Dynamic Number” button is to insert online currents’ and voltages’ measurements in PLC’s HMI. Currents measurements will be shown beside letter “A”, voltages measurements – besides letters “kV”.

In article no.7 “CAP505-measurements configuration with CAP505” current IL2 is connected to function block MMIDATA1. Voltage U23 is connected to function block MMIDATA2.

8. In “MMIDATA – Dynamic Number” window select data as shown in picture:

8-12

9. Press “OK” and drag “0.00” window at letter “A”:

8-13

10. In “Relay Mimic Editor” window press again button ”0.0”. In “MMIDATA – Dynamic Number” window select data as shown in picture:

8-14

11. Press “OK” and drag “0.00” window at letters “kV”:

8-15

12. Save and close “Background image” window:

8-16

13. Save project mimic in “Relay Mimic Editor” window:

8-17

14. Close “Relay Mimic Editor” tool by selecting “File>Exit”:

8-18

15. In “Relay Mimic Editor”window click “Yes”:

8-19

In next article I’ll overview „Relay setting Tool“ application and parameters of measurements function blocks.
