In this article I‘ll show how to set parameters of configured measurements. For this purpose I‘ll use “Relay setting tool” application. „Relay setting tool“ application is used to select settings of all function blocks‘s (control, protections, measurements, signalization and others).

You should pay attention how to send configuration and settings data from CAP505 software to PLC REF543. First is being sent configuration (by using “Relay download tool” application) and after that application parameters of function blocks is being sent (by using “Relay setting tool”).

When configuration has been changed, you should send this configuration to PLC. After sending this configuration, all settings of function blocks will return (reset) to defaults factory settings. You must send all these settings of function blocks again to PLC REF543 by using „Relay setting tool“ application. Remember this! You should pay attention especially when you‘ll work in working electrical installation to prevent accidents in network grid. All this sending procedure will be shown in article no.10 „CAP505 – Measurements: downloading (sending) configuration and settings to PLC REF543“.

1. In “Object Tools” window select your project object (in my case „IC-1“) and“Relay setting tool” application. Open it by double clicking on the left mouse button:

2. In “Relay Setting Tool” window select “Measurement” category:

3. In “Measurement” window select “MECU3A>Control setting”:

In this window you can set settings of function block „MECU3A“. Here we can see defaults factory settings. I leave factory setting for function block „MECU3A“.

I’m going to  overview every setting in short.

“Phase selection” – here you can set which current phase to measure. I leave factory setting: measuring L1, L2, L3 currents.

“Demand interval” – time interval in which will be fixing the maximum current

“Threshold select” – selecting of threshold monitoring algorithm
• Threshold supervision with absolute threshold
• Threshold supervision with integrator algorithm
• Threshold supervision with time-based function
Because “Phase selection” is set to measure phases L1, L2, L3 parameter „threshold select“ is automatically turned off.

“Time interval” – time interval of threshold monitoring

“Threshold value” – at this value will be starting monitoring

“Limit selection” – selection of monitoring boundaries.
Here will be outputs alarm signals by achieving some values of sinusoidal oscillograms
• High warning
• High alarm
• Low warning
• Low alarm

“Event mask 1, 2, 3, 4” – here you can set “High warning”, “High alarm”, “Low warning”, “Low alarm” signals tripping and resetting events.

4. The function block „MEVO1A“ is used for measure open delta voltage. To see setting of this function block, select in “Measurement” window “MEVO1A>Control setting”:

All settings of function block „MEVO1A“ have the same meanings as function block „MECU3A“.

5. The function block „MEVO3A“ is used for measure 3-phase voltages. In „Measurement” window select “MEVO3A>Control setting”:

6. In „Relay Setting Tool“ application you don‘t need to define parameters of function blocks „MMIDATA1“, „MMIDATA2“:

After overviewing settings of measurements function blocks, it is time to set currents and voltages transformers rates.

7. In „Relay Setting Tool“ application select „Configuration>Current trafo1“ and select settings as shown in picture:

In the same manner define the same rates for „Current trafo2“ ir „Current trafo3“.

Why I defined such  ratings of currents transformers?

Because in article no. 6 “CAP505: setting analogues channels” analogue channels were set:

Also the same settings should be defined in „Relay Settings Tool“ application.

 

 

8. Next step-is to define zero sequence current rate. In „Configuration>Current trafo4“ category select rates as shown in picture:

These rates should be the same as in article no. 6 “CAP505: setting analogues channels” in particle no.7:

9. Now you should to set voltage transformers‘ rates. Select „Configuration>Voltage trafo>Voltage trafo1“. In article no.6 “CAP505: setting analogues channels” this voltage transformer is defined to measure open delta voltage (see particle 8 of article no.6 ):

Also the same settings should be defined in „Relay Settings Tool“ application:

10. Select „Configuration>Voltage trafo>Voltage trafo2“. In article no.6 “CAP505: setting analogues channels” this voltage transformer is defined to measure voltage (see particle 6 of article no.6 ):

Again the same settings should be defined in „Relay Settings Tool“ application:

In the same manner define the same rates for „Voltage trafo3“ ir „Voltage trafo4“.

Now setting parameters of measure function blocks using „Relay Settings Tool“ application is completed.

 

10. Close „Relay Settings Tool“ application, by selecting „File>Exit“:
